Portrait of a BRCS Graduate
We aspire to serve God by partnering with students, families, faculty, staff, and churches in developing graduates who impact the world for Christ. Through our pillars, students will discern truth, demonstrate confidence in their identity, recognize their God-given gifts, become lifelong learners, serve others with care, lead well, and pursue and cultivate Biblical communities. Thank you for considering how you can partner with BRCS to continue this good work.
High School at Blue Ridge Christian School cultivates lifelong learners who are faithful in service and prepared to impact the world for Christ.
- Students work in an environment of trust with a focus on critical thinking and discussion. They are challenged academically and spiritually, and prepared for the transition to enter college or the workforce.
- In addition to rigorous core academic courses, the students continue to grow in their understanding of the Bible and Christian principles through apologetics, classroom discussion, Bible class, chapels, and biblical worldview immersion that is applicable to every aspect of their lives.
- Students select from a wide range of electives, including choir, theater, visual art, Lego Robotics, cooking, sewing, applied science and creative writing.

- Key events include Science Fair, field trips to Washington DC and other historical locations, High School overnight retreat, Homecoming and Junior/Senior Prom, overseas mission opportunities, and a five-day chaperoned senior trip.
- Our key pillars of Academics, Leadership, Service, and Community are woven into all aspects of the BRCS Experience.
Scope & Sequence

Advanced Coursework
Honors level courses are available in all main subjects. Advanced Placement (AP) and Dual Enrollment (DE) courses are available in select subject areas.

Biblical Worldview Application
Bible courses strengthen students’ knowledge and understanding of Scripture and the Christian faith. Students are immersed in apologetics and discussion. Students’ spiritual formation is fostered through mentoring groups and chapels. Local outreach through service opportunities, mission trips, summer camp counseling, and athletic events impact the community for Christ. Spiritual formation (link to page) is key to the portrait of a graduate.

Guidance, College, and Career Counselor
The Guidance, College, and Career Counselor provides services that begin with class selection in the freshman year and continue, via individual and group guidance, until students have completed the college application and acceptance process as seniors. To help students stay on track toward their goals, information on required testing and coursework is regularly provided.

Vocational Training
Vocational credits may be applied toward our high school graduation requirements. We recognize the value in learning and experiencing a trade to prepare students to enter the workforce after graduation.

Community
There are many components of the school day and overall structure of the Upper School to encourage healthy relationships and a strong community. The House System is one example of the intentionality and care with which these relationships are nurtured.

Resource
The Resource Department provides support to students with identified learning needs. Faculty work with each resource student’s individual plan. Extra study halls for assistance with available teachers are often incorporated into student schedules. Technology such as talk-to-text may also be utilized.
