Tom Bates
Middle and High School History Dual Enrollment and Bible Teacher
Tom is a graduate of James Madison University with a MA in History, as well as a B.A. from Montclair State University. Tom joined BRCS in 2002 and is the father of three BRCS students.

Clay Gordon
High School History Teacher
Clay brings over a decade of middle, high and adult education experience to BRCS. He hold a BS in Business Administration and Management, Teacher Licensure from Shenandoah University, a Special Education Licensure from Liberty University and served in the military for 13 years. Clay also has two children attending BRCS.

Heather Baroch
High School English Teacher
Heather is a graduate of James Madison University with a Master’s in Business Administration and a B.S. in Public Administration with a minor in English. Heather joined BRCS in 2018 and has one child at BRCS.

AllyeB Sconyers
High School English Teacher
AlleyB homeschooled her four children for 14 years and taught high school English in a local homeschool co-op. She holds a B.A. in Literature from the University of North Carolina-Asheville. She joined the BRCS community in 2022 and has two children attending BRCS.

Nick Guilbert
High School Calculus/Physics/Economics/Photography Teacher
Nick is a lifelong and award-winning educator, and brings over 30 years of teaching experience to BRCS. He has served for many years as a science department chair, a reader for Advanced Placement Physics Exams, and in science and math curriculum development. He is also a published author in his field. Mr. Guilbert holds a M.S. in Physics from North Carolina State University and a B.A. in Physics from Wesleyan University.

Melissa Furman
High School Science Teacher
Melissa is a graduate of Liberty University with a BS in Biology and minor in Chemistry and is ACSI certified. Melissa joined BRCS in 2016. Prior to BRCS, Melissa spent 15 yrs homeschooling and teaching science in homeschool co-ops.

David Pence
High School Math Teacher
David worked in the technology field for 4 years as a project manager and operations analyst. He has extensive experience with coaching, training and onboarding staff. David holds a B.S. in Biology with a Chemistry minor from Eastern Mennonite University.

Anne Zumbro
High School Math and Science Teacher
Anne is a graduate of the College of William and Mary, with a BA in Economics and minor in Geology, along with a M.Ed. in Counseling Psychology from the University of Missouri-Columbia. Anne joined BRCS in 2016.

Drew Ridder
High School Bible and Lego Robotics Teacher
Drew Ridder holds a Bachelor of Architecture from Virginia Tech and a Master of Ministerial Studies from Nazarene Bible College. He is the lead pastor at Living Stone Church of the Nazarene in Staunton. Drew began teaching at BRCS in 2016 and is the father of two BRCS students/alumni.
