Spiritual Formation

We are rooted in Christ.

The education provided at Blue Ridge Christian School seeks to

“take every thought captive for Christ.”

Our program is designed to bring students to a deeper understanding of God and who they are created to be.  The curriculum builds across grade levels.  From Bible stories and themes of God’s unending love in elementary school, through in depth biblical, cultural, and relational understanding in high school, BRCS students are rooted in their faith in Christ. Key transition years, 5th, 8th and 12th offer a great opportunity for deep discussion. Where did the Bible come from? Is there truth? What is the world’s view and what is the biblical worldview? These questions deepen faith and prepare students to share the Gospel.

Weekly Chapels

Pastors, missionaries, and special guests come and share a message with the students. This is a valuable time for students to be challenged in their personal walks with the Lord. Chapel is often led by our student worship team.

Mission Month

Each year, we celebrate Missions Month in November. We focus on impacting our community and the world for Christ. All students participate in shoebox preparation for Operation Christmas Child. Other projects have included supporting our high schoolers on their Guatemala missions projects, raising funds for Haitian schools, and collecting canned goods for a local food bank.

Spur Groups & Prayer Buddies

Middle and High school students meet with faculty mentors in Spur groups (from Heb. 10:24). These small groups cultivate students’ walks with Christ through discipleship, prayer, accountability, and personal application of Scripture.

In the elementary school, 6th grade students serve as small group leaders once a month.  Students lead in prayer and devotion.

Service

Giving back to the community is important. Beyond service events, BRCS promotes opportunities to engage students from area schools and churches. Intramural sports teams welcome students from area high schools together to play in an encouraging and God-honoring environment. BRCS high school students also lead a nine-week Alpha course which brings area teens together through food and discussion to explore the Christian faith.

Leadership Development

We cultivate leaders who can be world-changers for Christ. Middle schoolers serve as Peer Tutors to younger students, offering extra homework help, support with organizational skills, words of encouragement, and mentoring. Middle School Leadership Team members run social and service events.

Heart and S.O.U.L

Our Heart and S.O.U.L. program gives high school students an understanding of the Heart of God, by being a part of His greater kingdom through Service, Outreach, Uplift, and Love. We learn from Christ’s example and through His teaching that a walk with Christ must include compassionate outreach to others, especially to those who are less fortunate. Students accumulate Heart and S.O.U.L. service hours and reflect on their experiences in their Bible classes.
