Third Grade is a fun journey at BRCS. Our theme song is How Great Thou Art and we sing it all year at a designated spot on every field trip. The children earn letter grades for the first time and polish cursive to a lovely art form. One beloved chapter book is Pilgrim’s Progress, which we enjoy reading as characters in a play. We sing daily from Bible promised, hymns and praise songs as the noon table grace. Each month students recite their memorized Scripture and poetry to the class.
Our field trips focus on Shenandoah Valley historical sites, and include the New Market Battlefield, Page Valley Overlook, Shenandoah Caverns, Route 11 Potato Chip Factory, Monticello, McCormick Farm, Crabtree Falls, and the Turner Ashby Monument. To celebrate our happy year together we have a sleepover in our classroom on the last day of school! Each child is loved and nurtured to become all our Heavenly Father plans for them. We’re calling all third graders to come join us!
