1st-4th Grade

Critical Thinking and Creative Learning

First-Fourth Grades focus on higher levels of critical thinking skills, creative expression of thoughts and ideas, and love and appreciation for God’s creation and order.

  • Through hands-on experiences and experiments, students gain deeper understanding across all academic subjects, grounded in a Biblical worldview.

  • Spanish, Music, Art, P.E., Library, and Technology classes are integrated into the program.

Technology Class

Technology Class gives students an overview of the responsible use of information, safe and effective online searching, presentation software, desktop publishing and keyboarding applications.

Resource

The Resource Department provides academic support to students with identified learning needs. Program options may include in-class assistance, individual tutoring, and direct instruction in core subjects.

Exploration

From STEM projects in the classroom to field trips to Jamestown and Williamsburg to student plays, students explore and stretch their minds.

Conversational Spanish

In Conversational Spanish, the students will learn Spanish in a fun and engaging way through conversation and active involvement. Students will learn Spanish the same way they learned their first language; by listening, seeing the object, observing language and actions, and then responding. They will be given the opportunity to build their vocabulary through the use of flashcards, phrases, and stories. Students will learn how to see, hear, and speak Spanish. Once the vocabulary is acquired, students will create phrases to use in conversational Spanish.

Academic Competitions

As an ACSI member school, we offer students multiple opportunities to excel in their area of gifting, at the district, regional, and national level. Students may participate in Spelling Bees, Math Olympics, and Creative Writing and Music Festivals.
