Part of our mission at BRCS is to “provide a biblically-based educational program that … emphasizes academic excellence.” This week, I want to highlight some wonderful examples of academic excellence among our students.
Next Tuesday, BRCS will hold our first induction ceremony for the Alpha and Omega chapter of the National Honor Society. Fourteen BRCS high school students who have excelled in scholarship, leadership, service, and character will be inducted into NHS next Tuesday evening. We are very pleased to open a chapter of NHS at our high school and pray that this honor will encourage our students to continue to “do all for the glory of God” (1 Cor. 10:31) and for the good of our community.
In April, seventh grader Jonathan and fifth grader John traveled to Atlanta to take part in the ACSI Regional Spelling Bee. Out of 73 students representing seven states, Jonathan placed ninth, and John reached the fourth round. Earlier in the winter, Jonathan placed third in the ACSI District Bee for 5th-8th graders, while John placed fifth. This is the third year in a row that Jonathan qualified for the Regional Bee, and the first year for John.
Finally, three of our students submitted original work to the ACSI Creative Writing Contest. Seventh grader Olivia received an Excellent rating for her short story, and seventh grader Emily received Excellent ratings for her two poems. Fifth grader Jessie received a Superior rating for her short story. Their works are now being sent for judging at the regional level.
Many congratulations to each of these students! The Lord has gifted all of our students with unique talents to use for His glory, and it’s our privilege at BRCS to provide special opportunities for our students to shine academically.
